Know your grades

What the conditions actually mean

Container grades can be confusing. Here's the plain-English version, so you only pay for the condition you really need.

Best looking

One-Trip

Loaded once overseas and shipped here. About as close to new as a container gets. Clean inside, solid paint, doors swing easy.

Best for: homes, conversions, anywhere people will see it.

Certified

Cargo Worthy

A used unit that's inspected and certified strong enough to load and ship cargo again. Some dents and surface rust, all of it cosmetic.

Best for: shipping, export, heavy-duty storage.

Most popular

Wind & Water Tight

A retired shipping unit that still seals out wind and rain. It won't win a beauty contest, but what's inside stays dry and safe.

Best for: job sites, farm storage, best value per dollar.

Lowest price

As-Is

Sold exactly as it sits, so it could have damage, rough floors, or doors that need work. Priced to match, and we tell you what we know about it up front.

Best for: projects, parts, buyers who can inspect first.

How it works

From our yard to your ground in 3 steps

Delivery is priced separately and arranged by us through trusted third-party carriers. You'll know the unit price and the delivery price before you decide anything.

1

Pick your box

Choose a size and condition, then tap Buy now and fill out the quick order form. Pay a 10% deposit to reserve your unit, and the rest is due when it is delivered. We confirm what is in stock and quote your delivery, so you know the full total before you decide. Need more help? Call (909) 719-7395.

2

We arrange the haul

We book your delivery anywhere within 400 miles of Long Beach, all of SoCal, plus parts of Arizona and Nevada like Las Vegas and Phoenix.

3

It slides off, you load up

Units arrive on a tilt-bed trailer and slide off onto your ground. No crane or forklift needed on your end. Just have a fairly level, clear spot ready.

More than a box

What people do with them

Most buyers never ship a thing in them. Here's what our customers actually use them for.

A shipping container used for tool and material storage on a construction site

Job-site storage

Lockable, weather-tight storage for tools and materials that stays on site until the job's done.

A shipping container sitting in a farm field, used for feed and equipment storage

Farm & ranch

Feed, tack, and equipment stay dry and critter-resistant, no barn build required.

A container converted into a small backyard office pod

Backyard office & builds

One-trip units convert cleanly into offices, workshops, studios, and tiny spaces.

Good questions

Before you email

How much does a container cost?+
Use the price checker at the top of the page. Pick a size and condition, tap "Check my price," and you'll see the starting price right there. To reserve a unit you pay a 10% deposit online with any card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, or Cash App Pay, and the rest is due when your container is delivered. Those are container prices only: delivery is priced separately and quoted by distance. Write to info@steelboxdepot.com for your delivery quote and you'll get the full total before you decide anything. No obligation. Need more help? Call (909) 719-7395.
Do you deliver to my city?+
If you're within about 400 miles of Long Beach, CA, most likely yes. That's all of Southern California plus places like Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Flagstaff. Delivery is priced separately. For an edge case, email info@steelboxdepot.com with your exact address and we'll confirm.
What's the difference between the grades?+
One-trip units made a single trip from the factory and look nearly new. Cargo worthy units are used but certified strong enough to ship cargo again. Wind & water tight (WWT) units are retired from shipping but still seal out the weather, the best value for storage. As-is units are sold as they sit, at the lowest price. Scroll up to "Know your grades" for the full breakdown.
How much space do I need for delivery?+
The container itself is 8 ft wide. For the tilt-bed trailer to place it, plan on a fairly level, clear run, roughly 60 to 80 ft of straight space for a 20 ft unit and 100 to 120 ft for a 40 ft, plus room overhead free of low branches and wires. When you email, tell us about your spot and we'll work it through with you, or call and we'll talk it through.
